Cojín de polipiel / false leather cushion

Cuando les dije a mis amigas que iba a coser un cojín con polipiel, pusieron una cara muy rara... ¡¿polipiel?! Creo que a todas nos vienen a la cabeza imágenes de sofás de escai...
When I told my friends I wanted to do a cushion with false leather they looked puzzled at me "pleather?, seriously?"

Pero es que cuando lo vi en el instagram de Modernhandcraft y luego leí el tutorial en su blog, no me pude resistir. Me pareció muy guapo y me apetecía probar. Tenía por casa un trozo de polipiel perfecto, mate, negro... y también tenía restos de franela gris del quilt de cruces que os enseñaba aquí.
But when I saw Modernhandcraft instagram's photo and blog's tutorial, I couldn't resist. I had some false leather and remnants of grey flannel (from this cross quilt).

Así que fue, literalmente, coser y cantar. En una tarde el cojín estaba terminado. ¿Qué os parece? Podéis ser sinceras, a mi marido no le gusta... y no le importa decirmelo ;)
It was easy as pie. In a couple of hours I had a brand new cushion for my sofa. What do you think? You can tell me the truth, my husband didn't like it... and didn't mind telling me so ;)

Mapa mundi / the world map

Por fin retomo mi muy amado blog, y creo (crucemos los dedos) que vuelvo para quedarme.
I finally take my beloved blog back, and I think (fingers crossed) this time it will last.

Para retomar quería presentaros este quilt tan especial. Cuando lo vi en el blog de Schwin&Schwin no me pude resistir. Y lo mejor de todo, se lo enseñé a mis amigas costureras y ya están liadas ;)
I wanted to show you this world map quilt. When I saw it on the Schwin&Schwin blog, I couldn't resist. And worst of all, I bribed my sewing friends into doing it as well ;)

Siempre me han gustado los mapas, pero no había pensado en hacerlo en quilt. Me pareció que quedaría genial de cabecero en la habitación.
I've always liked maps, and I thought it would look great hanging on a wall.

Para ello escogí una guata de algodón gordita que le da ese aspecto tieso. La técnica, más fácil imposible, aplicación por el borde sin rematar. Para la trasera, la tela de los números de Ikea, y para el biés, una loneta de Ikea de rayas cortada al biés.
I chose a stiff cotton batting. The technique is raw edge appliqué (easy as can be). For the backing I chose Ikea's number fabric and I also used Ikea for the cotton canvas on the bias.

 ¿Qué os parece? ¿tenéis algún quilt colgado en casa? Tenía tantas ganas de volver...

Bolso de saco de café / Cofee sack bag

El miércoles pasado, nos juntamos unas amigas para hacer un bolso de un saco de café. Sin patrón, sólo con la inspiración de esta foto en pinterest, fuimos probando, cortando, sugiriendo...
Last Wednesday my friends and I got together to sew. Is there anything better than sewing with friends?. We wanted to transform an old coffee bag into a real bag, and we only had this picture from pinterest as inspiration

Y al final, éste es el resultado. ¿Qué os parece? Es muy rústico, sarga por fuera, lienzo moreno por dentro. Pero lleno de detalles, cierre de imán, mosquetón para las llaves, bolsillos para encontrar lo imprescindible rápido...
We cut, and tried and suggested and this is the outcome. What do you think? It's a bit rustic but full of little details, magnet closure, pockets and a string to keep your keys at hand.

La pega, suelta mogollón de pelufas que se pegan a todas partes y la sarga, ya sabéis, ¡pica! Pero es taaaaan monooooo....
The inconvenience, the outer fabric, burlap, leaves "hairs" everywhere, especially on black clothes and it is also a bit itchy. But I love it anyway!

Coser con punto / Sewing knit fabrics

Como no puedo dedicarle mucho tiempo a la costura este año, estoy estableciendo una lista de prioridades que incluyen proyectos rápidos.
I cannot sew a lot lately, so I'm organizing my priorities and time-consuming projects are out of the list (for now...)

Entre esas prioridades hace tiempo que quería probar a coser con punto. Encontré el patrón ideal: "Coco" de Tilly and the buttons. Tiene un estilo que me gusta y que le va a mi figura. Además su blog está lleno de indicaciones paso a paso que hacen de su costura una delicia
I've been wanting to try sewing knit fabrics for a long time. I found the perfect pattern in "Coco" by Tilly and the buttons. It's a quite flattering pattern and her blog is full of step by step instructions that make sewing this pattern easy.

Compré un "punto de roma" baratín, porque tenía miedo de que no me quedara bien y tirar el dinero. Corte el patrón, cosí, cosí e incluso ¡me atreví con la aguja doble! (por cierto un éxito y súper-fácil)
I bought an inexpensive "punt de rome" because I was afraid of not doing it right. I cut the pattern and sew all the pieces, I even tried the double needle (a complete success, easy as pie, I must say)

Estoy súper-satisfecha con el resultado, así que ahora ando en busca de punto bonito para hacerme unas cuantas camisetas más. Lo más tedioso fue unir las piezas del patrón (porque lo compré en versión digital) y dibujarlo; ahora que ya lo tengo hecho será coser y cantar!
I am satisfied with the result and am now in the search for some knit fabrics to do some more Cocos. I bought the digital pattern and glueing the parts of the pattern together was quite tedious, now that I have it, it will all go smoothly

Free motion quilting

Estos días, tratando de recuperar la rutina me he sentado a acolchar. A practicar y practicar distintos diseños, a equivocarme y aprender.

I'm trying to get back on track, and while I'm at it I've been free motion quilting

I've practiced new designs, experimenting, learning...

 Caracolas, burbujas, plumas...

Swirls, pebbles, feathers...

A veces hay que sólo probar y enamorarnos de lo que hacemos

Sometimes all we need is try and embrace what we do.

Por último, este es un trabajo que tengo abandonado porque las telas que escogí (en mi afán de gastar lo que tengo en casa) no me convencen mucho. Pero creo que tengo que terminarlo, que una vez acolchado cobrará fuerza. Y si no, siempre puedo regalarlo, no? ;)

And last, this is a project I had abandoned because I didn't quite like my choice of fabric (I was doing an effort to use what I had on hand). I think I must finish it because once quilted it will be enriched. And If it isn´t, I can always gift it, can't I? ;)
