Mi amiga MJ tiene un club de lectura, "la vida apremia". Un día que tomábamos café juntas nos enteramos de que un miembro del club esperaba un hijo y yo no me pude callar: "¡hay que hacerle una mantina a ese bebé!" Creo que no necesito explicaos la cara que se le quedó: "Sonia, no cosemos ninguna" Y yo que soy una optimista y una lanzada la animé "Qué más da! Yo os guío"
My friend MJ has a book group: "Life urges". One day, we were having a coffee when she received awesome news, one of the members from the group was expecting a baby. I couldn't resist: "you have to make a quilt for that baby". I don't think I can explain her face when she blurted: "but we can't sew!" But I'm an optimist and I offered to help them

Y bueno, lo primero crear un grupo en el whatsapp: operación mantina y luego decidir en qué colores la iban a hacer (eso fue fácil: azul y gris y sin discusión), para el diseño yo me decidí por seis estrellas de ocho puntas o Lemoyne stars, y de momento sólo tenían que comprar la tela. Lo siguiente organizar la fecha y todo a espaldas de la recién mamá.
First thing was to create a whatsapp group: "quilt op", then choose the colours (that was a quick decision: blue and grey, no discussion), for the design I chose six eight-pointed stars, and they just had to buy the fabric. Next thing organize a date, everything kept secret from the mum to be...

Nos juntamos una tarde, bien temprano porque había trabajo que hacer: Yo llevaba las telas cortadas en cuadrados de 10 pulgadas y la máquina de coser. Ellas tenían que montar las estrellas, por el suelo, por las mesas... luego coser en cadena, planchar y volver a montar... Entre risas, calores, cotilleos... a las 8, cinco horas más tarde, ¡el top estaba montado! Qué sorpresa y qué emoción, ¡no se lo podían creer!
We met one day, early in the afternoon. I had all the fabrics cut into 10 inch squares and I took my sewing machine. They had to do the patchwork! We sweated, gossiped and laughed... and by 8 we had the top done. How surprising and exciting; they couldn't believe themselves!

La tarde comenzó con mucha incredulidad y terminó con ganas de hacerse una cada una... El patchwork engancha y de qué manera.
That afternoon had started with much incredulity, but it finished with those women wanting to do a quilt for each one...  You know how patchwork is addictive!

Lo último el acolchado: en casa, intentando practicar diversos diseños, y el borde que contiene todos nuestros deseos para ese bebé. Me quedé enamorada.
Last steps: quilting at home. I tried to practice several fmq designs and the border contains all our wishes for the baby. I'm in love!

Ahora sólo falta organizar la fiesta para la entrega, que seguro será muy emocionante. ¿Os imagináis un regalo mejor que un quilt hecho por tus amigas?
Now we only need to organize the baby shower to gift it. It will surely be very emotive. Can you imagine a better present than a quilt made by your friends?
