Blogger's quilt festival

This is my special entry for the quilt festival organized by Amy's Creative Side
I won the best quilt photographer award, in the spring edition, which was an incredible surprise and pleasure. This time I hope to be up to the expectations. I recommend a visit to the festival because it's a great source of inspiration.

This quilt is aproximately 60 inches square. It was machine sewn and quilted at home. What is special about this quilt is that it was done by me and my siters for my niece's second son: Matías. I would like to enter it to the following categories: Home Machine Quilted Quilt; Group or Bee Quilt; Quilt Photographer.

I chose this quilt because I loved working on a quilting bee and because I took the pictures at my favourite place, a place I come back once and again in my reveries.

The quilting hides several secrets among which is the baby's name
The day we took the pictures seemed a fantastic day, but here in Asturias, you can never trust the weather.
So that what began as a beautiful day to stroll...
An evening in which we lingered trying not to go back too soon...
Ended up with pouring rain and a race home sheltered by the quilt which will hold the sweetest dreams of little Matías

Estarcido en camiseta / Stencils on t-shirts

Autumn is here, and with it came rainy evenings, not so long days and boredom. So I decided to try something I had been longing to experiment for quite a long time

I got the final inspiration from this post on the polkadot chair blog. There are lots of tutorials on the internet. I won't recommend any in particular beacause I read lots and they are all good.

You will need white t-shirts (mine are from Primark), freezer paper, generally sold for doing appliques, a nice drawing (there are dozens on google images), a cutter, fabric paint (found in craft shops or amazon), brushes or sponge and two or three bored children willing to make themselves a t-shirt for Halloween.

It takes longer for you to prepare everything but they are calm and quiet for  while and then they are amazed by the result. Perfect for a rainy day!

Mi primer bordado / My first stitchery

It's part of authen-tic's mistery design for Christmas. It was my first time doing a stitchery but surely not my last. I loved being able to work anywhere.

Volver al cole / back to school

You may think I'm off time, but looking back to September it seems I only sew things school related.

But October is already here with its promises of winter weather and sewing evenings. I've started so many projects and I've got so many to start...

Two months have gone by without posting. I finished the school year with several difficulties, July wasn't what I had expected and I enjoyed a summer with no internet connection. Frankly, I needed to disconnect, but I didn't stop sewing so I have several things to show you

In my last post I promised something more "quilty", so I'll start with this.

In June the girls from authen-tic organized a mistery quilt. Every Friday they gave detailed instructions from the cutting of fabrics to the final instructions  for building the top. The result is surprising and beautiful!

Yo me quedé enamorada. ¡Me encanta!
You could (and you can!) buy the fabrics needed, online from their shop. I went scrappy with all the blue remnants I had at home. I just love it! What do you think?

I really enjoyed working like this, following instructions not knowing what the outcome would be

You can check the instructions and the quilts from the different sewers that participated in their blog.

Reciclar camisetas 3 / Recycling t-shirts 3

Investigating for my previous two posts i found this dress that I loved!

With the jersey knit I got extra from my dress, two old t-shirts of mine and following this and this tutorial, I made this awesome dress
Sol just loves it! It's light, fresh and attractive... Ideal for summertime!
You shouldn't throw anything away, you never know when it'll become handy.
With this post I finish blogging about knits and I promise something else more "quilty" related for my next one
