El quilt sorpresa de Authen-tic/ Authen-tic's mistery quilt

¡Dos meses sin publicar! El fin de curso fue ajetreado, julio no acompañó y me encontré con un verano sin conexión a internet y con una necesidad muy grande de perderme, de desconectar... Pero no dejé de coser, así que tengo algunas cositas que contaros.

Two months have gone by without posting. I finished the school year with several difficulties, July wasn't what I had expected and I enjoyed a summer with no internet connection. Frankly, I needed to disconnect, but I didn't stop sewing so I have several things to show you

En mi última entrada, os prometía algo un poco más "quilty", así que empezaré por aquí.

In my last post I promised something more "quilty", so I'll start with this.

Durante el mes de junio, las chicas de authen-tic organizaron un quilt sorpresa. Cada viernes publicaban las instrucciones para esa semana: desde el corte de la telas hasta el montaje final del top. Instrucciones, debo decir, muy detalladas y con un resultado sorprendente a la par que vistoso.

In June the girls from authen-tic organized a mistery quilt. Every Friday they gave detailed instructions from the cutting of fabrics to the final instructions  for building the top. The result is surprising and beautiful!

Desde su tienda online ponían a la disposición de quien quiesiera las telas necesarias para la realización del quilt, pero yo me decidí a hacerlo "scrappy", en tonos azules y con los retales que tenía por casa. El resultado lo dejo a vuestro criterio. Yo me quedé enamorada. ¡Me encanta!

You could (and you can!) buy the fabrics needed, online from their shop. I went scrappy with all the blue remnants I had at home. I just love it! What do you think?

Me gustó muchísimo trabajar así con objetivos semanales y sin saber cuál iba a ser el resultado final.

Reciclar camisetas 3 / Recycling t-shirts 3

Pues investigando para los dos posts anteriores, encontré este vestido que me encantó.
Investigating for my previous two posts i found this dress that I loved!

Con el punto que me sobró del vestido largo, unas camisetas viejas y siguiendo este y este tutorial, hice este vestido tan resultón. 

With the jersey knit I got extra from my dress, two old t-shirts of mine and following this and this tutorial, I made this awesome dress

Sol está encantada con él, es ligero, fresquito y llamativo... Ideal para el verano!
Sol just loves it! It's light, fresh and attractive... Ideal for summertime!

No se puede tirar nada, ni las camisetas viejas. Ya veis que todo puede tener una segunda vida.
You shouldn't throw anything away, you never know when it'll become handy.

Reciclar camisetas 2/ Recycling t--shirts 2

Pues como os conté la semana pasada, seguí investigando las telas de punto y cómo coser con ellas.

As I told you last week, I kept investigating and learning. The two posts that I found more interesting were these two:

Esta vez compré el punto en rayas (tan marinero...) y corté una camiseta vieja. La adorne con una flor hecha con el mismo punto.
I bought a jersey knit in stripes and I cut an old t-shirt. I did a flower from a strip of the knit just by gathering it in a ruffle.

Cosí como hice con el vestido infantil: La tela con el doble de ancho que la cintura y el largo deseado.
En la cintura pasé un hilván y tiré del hilo de la canilla para encoger la tela y que encajara con el ancho de la camiseta cortada. Cosí las dos piezas derecho con derecho, con zig-zag y ya está.
I proceeded as I did the girl's dress from my previous post. I cut a piece from the knit twice as wide as my waist and long to my ankles. I gathered the waist with a long stitch and pulling the thread from the bobbin until it fitted the waist of the cut t-shirt. I sewed the two parts together with a zig-zag stitch and that's it!

Reciclar camisetas / Recycling t-shirts

Todo empezó cuando vi este tutorial de "the polkadot chair" Me encantó la idea y me pareció fácil de hacer.
Everything started when I saw this tutorial from the polkadot chair. I loved the idea and thought it would be easy to do.

Compré una camiseta en el Primark (1€) y la corté 3cm por debajo de las axilas. Con un retal que me sobró del abby tote le hice la faldita. Corté una pieza que tuviera el doble de ancho que la cintura de la niña, y el largo por encima de sus rodillas. Le hice una tabla central y pinzas hasta que encajó con el ancho de la camiseta.

I bought a t-shirt from Primark and cut it 3cm under the armpits. With some fabric from my stash I cut a piece that was twice as wide as her waist and long to get above her knees. I made a central pleat and several smaller ones to make it fit into the cut t-shirt.

Lo que aprendí: la costura hay que hacerla con un zig-zag, si no al ponerte el vestido saltan los puntos (no preguntéis porqué lo sé)
What I have learnt is that knits shouldn't be sewn with a straight stitch, you must use a zig-zag. And this I learnt the hard way!
Luego seguí investigando y a la siguiente cosí dos telas de punto. Os cuento la semana que viene.
I kept investigating and then I sewed two knits. I'll tell you about it next week.

Fiesta pirata/ Pirate birthday

La semana pasada celebramos los cumpleaños de los peques con una fiesta pirata
Last week we celebrated the birthday party of my two children

Como somos fans de la serie de dibujos Jake y los piratas de nunca jamas (Disney), decoramos el garaje de casa de los abuelitos, con un barco pirata de juguete y con platos, vasos y y servilletas de Meri&Meri que conpré en Hascot (Oviedo)
As we are fans of the Disney series "Jake and the Neverland pirates" we decorated the room all in a pirate theme with plates, glasses and napkins from Meri&Meri that I bought in Hascot (Oviedo)

Llenamos la mesa de doblones de oro de chocolate y preparamos unas bolsas como botín para los invitados.
We covered the table with golden chocolate coins and we prepared some bags as bounty for the guests

Como colofón le pedí a Fabi de "sorpresas de azucar" que me hiciera una tarta. Como siempre, se superó a sí misma e ilusionó a los peques con un diseño ideal, y un sabor espectacular.
I asked Fabi from "sorpresas de azucar" to do a cake for us. She did great, as always, doing an awesome cake that tasted delicious!

La sorpresa fue que, entre otros regalos, a Sol le trajeron una máquina se coser de Barbie que le encantó a su mamá. Así se hace una quilter
To my surprise, Sol was given a toy sewing machine that I loved. A new quilter is born!

The Abby Tote

Para hacer este bolso, compré un patrón de V&Co, me encantan sus diseños, y este bolso me tenía enamorada desde hace meses. El patrón, un pdf de descarga inmediata que podéis comprar aquí, es muy sencillo de seguir. Y el resultado, a la vista está: un bolso versátil, grande, reversible y con el detalle añadido del lazo que se puede utilizar como pañuelo.

To make this bag I bought the pattern from V&Co. I love her designs and I've had this bag on mind for several months. You can download the PDF pattern from her site. The result is obvious: a big, versatile and reversible bag with a plus: you can use the bow as a light scarf.

A veces, hago cosas por el mero placer de aprender a hacerlas. Y a veces me meto en camisas de once varas...
Sometime I start sewing just for the pleasure of learning. And sometimes luck happens...

El patrón de esta camisa podéis encontrarlo aquí. Son $10, unos 8€, es un pdf que te puedes descargar inmediatamente. El patrón viene acompañado de unas clarísimas explicaciones (eso sí, en inglés) que hacen la confección fácil hasta para el que nunca ha cosido una prenda de ropa.
